About Colorado Mesa University

A liberal arts college located in the heart of Grand Junction, Colorado Mesa University, formerly Mesa State  College,  offers certificate programs, associate’s and bachelor’s degrees in variety of disciplines, and two master’s degrees. Most of the school’s programs include practical application for knowledge and skills in hands-on experiences like internships, fieldwork, student teaching and clinical practice. The college was founded in 1925 and has since grown to an enrollment of over 7,700 students. The Colorado Mesa University Center offers a large conference facility just minutes from our Grand Junction hotel. The Colorado Mesa University Mavericks compete in a variety of sports, like baseball, basketball, cross country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, swimming, tennis, track & field, wrestling, volleyball, softball, skiing, rodeo and cycling. The college’s recreation facilities—the Maverick Center and Hamilton Recreation Center—recently underwent a $42 million renovation and offer fitness and strength training areas, group classes, gymnasium, indoor track, climbing wall, huge aquatic center, massage therapy and a juice and snack bar. Other athletic venues include football at the Stocker Stadium, softball at Bergman Field, basketball, volleyball and wrestling at the Brownson Arena and baseball and softball at Suplizio Field.

Colorado Mesa University Cycling

A division of Colorado Mesa University’s athletic department, the Colorado Mesa University Cycling Club was founded in 1998 and has grown to over 80 members. The club is a member of the Rocky Mountain Collegiate Cycling Conference and competes as a Division I school against many regional and national college teams. The cycling team has initiated several community projects to help promote the sport and improve cycling opportunities in the area.
